This page opens with the timer already set to 120 minutes. Press Start or hit the spacebar and it begins; when time is up the alarm rings and the disk blinks. You can always drag the disk to a different time.
Take a timed practice test
The TOEIC Listening and Reading test has two timed sections of 100 questions each: 45 minutes of listening and 75 of reading. That is 120 minutes of test time; ETS puts the whole sitting at about two and a half hours, including biographical questions.
- Lay out the booklet and answer sheet before you start the timer.
- Run all 120 minutes without pausing, as you would in the exam room.
- Note where you were at the 45-minute mark to see whether listening and reading stayed on schedule.
Practise in exam-room quiet
Exam rooms are silent, so practise that way. The silent timer page turns off the ticking and the alarm sound while keeping the disk.
A 10-minute heads-up still shows a short notice before the end; on the silent page it appears without a chime.
Reading a two-hour disk
One full turn of the 120-minute dial is two hours, and each number marks 10 minutes. When half the disk is gone, an hour has passed.
Questions about the 120 minute timer
Is the TOEIC test exactly two hours?
Its two sections add up to 120 minutes. ETS lists about 2.5 hours in total because of roughly 30 minutes of biographical questions.
Can I time listening and reading separately?
Yes. Use the 45 minute timer for listening, then set 75 minutes for reading by typing it in or dragging the disk.
Does a two-hour session go into my history?
Yes, while Count timer mode in history is on, the full two hours are added to today’s total.
