This page opens with the timer already set to 10 minutes. Press Start or hit the spacebar and it begins; when time is up the alarm rings and the disk blinks. You can always drag the disk to a different time.
Review in ten-minute blocks
Ten minutes works for one pass through flashcards, re-reading a section of notes or checking the answers to a short problem set. The block is small enough that starting it does not feel like a commitment.
- Decide what counts as done, such as 20 cards or one page of notes.
- Start the timer and stop when the disk is gone, even in the middle of a card.
- Write down where you stopped so the next block starts without searching.
Keep one agenda item on track
When a meeting gives an item ten minutes, put the timer where everyone can see it. A shrinking disk is easier to respect than a reminder from whoever is chairing.
Turn on a 2-minute heads-up so the room hears a soft chime and sees a short notice before the end, with time left to agree on next steps.
Reading a ten-minute disk
Ten minutes covers the dial from 12 to the 10 label, the same span as 12 to 2 on a wall clock. Once the edge passes the 5, half the block is gone.
Questions about the 10 minute timer
Can I get a reminder before the ten minutes end?
Yes. Pick 1, 2 or 5 minutes before the end in Sound and display. A soft chime plays, a short notice appears and the edge of the disk pulses once.
Do ten-minute sessions count in my focus history?
Yes. Timer sessions go into today’s total and the 7-day chart unless you turn off Count timer mode in history. Sessions under one minute are not saved.
What if ten minutes turns out to be too short?
Before you start, drag the disk further or choose 15 minutes from the presets. Your next block can be longer without changing anything else.
